Wow what a reality check. Just got off the phone with the IRS regarding the status of our 501(c)3 filing. On April 23, 2013 we received a letter stating they would contact us within 90 days to let us know the status of our filing..... when I didn't hear, I called. Unfortuanately the person on the phone told me that letter is 20 years old and they are not allowed to change it. Since they have a hiring freeze they are backlogged and not allowed to hire anyone to keep up the demand. They have 600,000 applications to process and currently are working on April 2012. Our file has not yet been assigned to anyone for review. Just Wow, we have no idea when we will hear or how long it will take....sad. Seems to me they could at least update the letter to say we are back logged or something, but not the 90 days. All I know is, we will hear when we will hear....
