In Atlanta and went to the closest quilt shop, Intown Quiters, fabulous shop. Finally found a way to save money while shopping, take a cab from your hotel, have them wait with the meter running to be able to get you back to your hotel. You would be surprised how fast you can shop! Sweet Bill would have loved that one! Coming home tomorrow, Linda

Sale Aug 15 - 18

posted Jul 28, 2013, 8:11 AM by Linda Hannawalt   [ updated Jul 28, 2013, 8:12 AM ]

We are closed for remodeling for two weeks. We have bought out our 14th quilt store that is closing. But this one is sight unseen because it is Sew Flakes, in Tulsa Oklahoma, featuring fine quilting and fashion fabrics like Amy Butler, Philiip Jacobs, Kaffe Fassett, Freespirit, and so on. We bought it all including wools and some fashion fabrics. We have 800 bolts of fabric coming first of August. So of course we are having a major sale on Thurs. Aug.15, Fri. Aug. 16, Sat. Aug. 17 (by the way Janet is teaching another great class that day) and we will be open for the sale on Sunday, Aug. 18 as well. (I rescheuled the class I was teaching for this sale) These four days only all fat quarters $1, we just happen to have 3,000 new ones to us and an additional 20% off all marked prices of fabric currently at QuiltWorks. (no coupons for this weekend please) We have to make room for the huge new shipment! Our good prices just got better. Come and see us.

3000 Fat Quarters Donated

posted Jul 26, 2013, 9:28 PM by Linda Hannawalt   [ updated Jul 26, 2013, 9:28 PM ]

A neighbor who lives in nearby Brisbane named Martha stopped by yesterday to donate six large garbage bags of fabric. She said she had some fat quarters for us. Well, it took three volunteers all day to sort and count the 2,955 fat quarters........ Even I am saying WOW! They are all new and all had labels on them. She referred to her friend who had passed and left her so much fabric. She is coming back tomorrow with more....We will of course be having a sale when we re-open on Aug. 15!

This weekend we have two classes that are for beginners. How to applique circles on a simple quilt to give it that zing on Saturday 10:30 - 4:30 and Five and Dime on Sunday 10:30 - 4:30. Both classes have kits so all we have to do is make a quilt top. Plenty of room in the classes, join us. You do not have to be there for the entire class, but three hours is preferable.

Please stop by with ideas but would really appreciate your input. Please give us two or three ideas you would like us to include in our program. What do you most want us to train clients to learn and be the best retail employee when you are shopping? We write our grant next week, we want to hear from all of you please.

Flannel Backing

posted Jul 6, 2013, 8:26 PM by Linda Hannawalt   [ updated Jul 6, 2013, 8:26 PM ]

Yesterday we scored hundreds of yards of washed flannel, perfect for quilt backing. Lots of children's prints. Quilt for Kids and Project Linus, you all should come and get some of these new goodies. We are inventorying these today also....busy day. From what I can judge so far, mostly 2 - 3 yard cuts but just scratched the surface.
